Dr. Bond, one of the founding members of Heartland Cardiology, and senior cardiologist who was one of the few cardiologists bringing angioplasty to Kansas in the early 1980s, retired on July 31, 2014.

Dr. Bond’s career spanned 40 years, the last 20 being with Heartland. He attended Marquette University College of Medicine and completed his residency and fellowship at The Ohio State University. He served two years in the Army, one of which was in Vietnam at a forward clearing station or small hospital unit treating soldiers.

Moving to Wichita in 1974, Dr. Bond made a commitment to himself to stay one year and then reassess. Forty years later he realized he stayed because he loved Wichita and found it to be a great place to raise children.

As a final thought, Dr. Bond added, “I have no doubt I will be able to move on and redefine what my life is going to be like, but on the other hand, I will miss being a cardiologist and the friendships I have developed with my colleagues and patients.”
